Time

Time Changes Things

Andy Warhol, USA

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

At dead of night

Jean Baudrillard, France

The skylines lit up at dead of night, the air-conditioning systems cooling empty hotels in the desert, and artificial light in the middle of the day, all have something both demented and admirable about them: the mindless luxury of a rich civilization, and yet of a civilization perhaps as scared to see the lights go out as was the hunter in his primitive night.

The Law of Time

José Argüelles, USA

(Submitted by The Art of Living Team)

It is the Law of Time that governs the entirety of the biosphere and everything else in the universe, according to principles that are known only dimly to us, principles like synchronicity and telepathic instantaneity. The Law of Time is formulated very simply, and in some people’s way of thinking, rather unscientifically as T(E)=Art, “energy factored by time equals art.”

The Time of Nothingness

Mayte Martín, Spain.

(Submitted by the author)

There is only one set of staves on which we can write our life's symphony. Only one pencil with which we can trace the outline of the map, which alone - and then only sometimes - can cheat destiny. Only one piece of clay with which to mould what we don’t want, in order never to forget what it looks like: the time of nothingness.

Call on the mountains

Linda Fitch, USA

Life feels very intense right now, with many systems in transition all at once. Whether it is the death of a loved one, job changes, health concerns or life transformation, we must learn to cultivate stillness in all areas of our lives.

It is critical to clear your pathway of those elements which are hindering you. What are the elements that are stopping you from coming back into stillness or balance?

The future is always ideal

Hara Estroff Marano, USA

The future is always ideal: the fridge is stocked, the weather clear, the train runs on schedule and meetings end on time. Today, well, stuff happens.

Speed

Mahatma Gandhi, India

There is more to life than increasing its speed.

Hexagram 49, The I Ching: 'Abolishing the Old'.

Thus Change the Seasons

I Ching, China

Times change, and with them their demands. Thus change the seasons in the course of the year. Thus also in the cosmic cycle there are spring and autumn in the lives of peoples and nations, and these call for social transformations.

The only eternal truth

Peter Russell, England

Perhaps the only eternal truth of science is that all theories change with time.

The Art of Listening to the Morning

Paddy McLaughlin, USA

(Submitted by the author)

In the stillness of early morning,
Spirit speaks to me in quiet repose.
Somehow it seems easier to touch my own
heart
when the rest of the world is
asleep
and only the birds and the wind
speak ...
It is as if nature has its time alone
with the Divine,
to reset the tempo of the
day.
Long-legged spider moves softly
Through long-legged grass.
An endless dance of passion between
old friends.
I watch and listen and receive
my soul's direction.
