This isn't quite my own thought, but a very good friend told it to me during a pretty low part of my life ...'The key to happiness is to focus on the good in life. Pleasant things last longer and happen more often than the unpleasant. It's merely our choice to focus on the bad things which happen, and so they seem to stick around longer.
If you just let the mishaps, the mistakes, the hurts, the betrayals, and everything else go, and focus on whatever good is there, you'll be far happier more often than someone who chooses to focus on the negative things in life.'
It's helped me quite a bit. Every time something happens that upsets me or makes me hurt or angry, I find some little nugget of good to cling onto and focus on. And sure enough, the bad feelings melt away, while the good just grow and develop and flourish. I've become a much happier and relaxed person since adopting this mind frame.
